Review of When a Man Loves a Woman (1994) by Scot C — 09 Feb 2011
This is a very touching film, and it gets right down to the root of what true love really is all about. The performances by Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan are soo good, that I couldnt think of anyone else doing a better job playing those parts.
This is truly a character driven story, and it is also so well written that along with the performances it keeps you engaged from start to finish. I couldnt help getting emotionally involved while watching this, and I think if one relates (man) to this, it is even more personal.
Andy Garcia is the ultimate gentleman, and shows a depth in this film that i've never seen in any other film he's done, and his character deserves a gold medal for sticking through what he has to deal with, and that's love! The two children were great as well, man I forgot they were acting, they also got something tugging at my heart.
The director must be commended for getting what he wanted out of his actors. This is a heavy one at times, but one to watch!
