Review of What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966) by Ken S — 11 Mar 2014
Woody Allen's directorial debut is actually a japanese action spy flick, with rearranged scenes and an overdubbed soundtrack, that changes the plot into a search for the perfect egg salad. It has it's funny moments, but it is certainly flawed.
The addition of the Lovin' Spoonful performing is pointless and rather boring, clearly there just to stretch the runtime. Their addition was not something Allen wanted or agreed with, but I guess it at least it convinced him to demand final cut on all subsequent features.
