Review of What's Up, Doc? (1972) by Rod A — 07 Oct 2009
Though I was not expecting to, I really enjoyed this film. It made me think about how comedy is so difficult to pull of successfully. Kenneth Mars and Madeline Kahn are so thoroughly funny, I actually laughed out loud.
It's clear that Bogdanovich and Polly Platt are devout fans of old cinema. I don't think this would have meant as much to me had I not watched ( and loved all of those old Grant/Hepburn films like Bringing Up Baby and Philadelphia Story.
This was a delightful surprise.
