Review of What's Up, Doc? (1972) by Katie S — 20 Dec 2009
A skilfull Hollywood farce that knowingly doffs its cap to it's screwball predecessors. Streisand is super sexy as the agent of chaos: a sort of hot Jewish Bugs Bunny. O'Neal plays it straight and Madeline Kahn is the very epitome of harranging giving even Joan Sims a run for her money.
Terrifically cast and the final car chase though laden with elements that have moved beyond cliche is still a joy. The kind of film that's a treat to catch on TV on a rainy Sunday or even if you happen to walk past a cinema with a brand new print.
