Review of What's Up, Doc? (1972) by David Ray G — 19 Aug 2010
This is one of my best friend's favorite comedies and he suggested I watched it. This comedy came to me at a time I felt emotionally horrible, and even though it didn't "cure" me, it definitely made me feel a whole lot better.
I don't think I've laughed in a movie as much as I laughed in this one in recent years. I look at comedies like this one - with a great concept, sensible humor, wonderfully-conceived screenplay - and then I look at comedies of 2010. A vast number of U.S. comedy directors nowadays has no humor. There's no humor in Superbad there's no humor in Hot Tub Time Machine there's no humor in The Hangover. But there is plenty here, and I wholeheartedly recommend this movie to those who appreciate the fine humor or Peter Sellers and Woody Allen. Everything about What's Up, Doc? resonates of timeless humorous brilliance.
