Review of What's Up, Doc? (1950) by Jeffrey L — 24 Jun 2007
I don't like Barbra Streisand. Haven't sat through Funny Girl, or Yentl, Mirror Has Two Faces, Prince of Tides, barely got through Meet The Fockers, because it wasn't that good. But this film is fucking excellent from start to finish.
With one of the best car chases ever. And some of the funniest lines. "Use your charm....." "Yesssssss, charrrrrrrrrm, charrrrrrrrrrrm......." (uses his charm by tripping up the lady all the way up to her room and helping her up) HOTEL MANAGER "The staff of the hotel have a message for you Mr Bannister.
" HOWARD "They do? What is it?" MANAGER "Goodbye." HOWARD "That's the entire message?" MANAGER "Yes. We feel it would be best if you packed up your things and left this hotel.
" HOWARD "Uh huh, how soon?" MANAGER "Yesterday." HOWARD "That soon?".
