On this film, Tina is always good, she always looks the best for all her people: she takes care of her husband's the last relationship kids, she says "keep the change" when she buys donuts, she always has a smile for the others, and she even mixes this bounty with foolishness such as her relationship with her mother and, of course, her husband who is a total monster. With this kind of characters so unreal, so exagerated, who are also part of an racist way of seeing black people, we never feel we saw Tina's life. We never (or at least I) understand what does she saw on Ike because he never stops being the bad guy. And the film about "Tina's life" is really a story about the beating she recieved.
