Review of What's Love Got to Do with It (1993) by Erin W — 22 Dec 2008
"What's Love Got To Do With It" Is a powerful movie based off the real life story of Tina Turner.
Originally Tina was Anne Maye, a black girl from the country, who has a voice as big as her heart. Everything about the movie rang true to the time period back then (the 60s to the 90s) which including, costuming, lingo, and technology.
In the story, Tina battles humiliation and countless beatings from her husband, Ike Turner. At last, she is able to break free from his violence, the only thing she asks for in divorce court is her name. From there she goes on as a solo pop act and to this day astonishes people (young and old) with her powerful voice and story. The actors did a great job portraying the characters and if you really want to see a biography movie that isn't boring, well this is the one to see. It plays out like it was a fictional screenplay, but it never strays away from the original book and biography that is inspired it: "I, Tina" by Tina Turner.
