Whats Eating Gilbert Grape is the story of Gilbert Grape and the struggles he goes through trying to take care of his obese mother and retarded brother. Both of these tasks are full time jobs which really keeps him tied to the small town he lives in and stunts his growth and potential.
As life continues the pressures and changes in life that he cannot control eat away at him in this interesting and original drama. DiCaprio was absolutely fantastic as the brother, and the movie does a great job showing the how difficult but great a family can be.
