Review of Whatever Works (2009) by Reiyan B — 05 Jun 2010
Larry David is pure money in this film. Since I saw it a couple months ago I've probably watched it around 15 times and there are so many subtle lines that are pulled off perfectly. The beginning and ending worldviews of Larry David's character just seem very truthful and when you add David's sarcasm it just makes the whole film worthwhile.
Even Evan Rachel Wood did a great job with her comedic lines, the first time I watched it I didn't much care for her part but some of her lines are so subtle that I didn't even realize the intelligence in her character's stupidity/innocence.
I know that this is not Woody Allen's best work but I think this is very underrated as I look at the words from fellow reviewers...maybe at first glance this movie has the illusion to suck but as most dramas need more than one viewing to appreciate, so do some comedies.
