Review of Whatever Works (2009) by Ray P — 23 Sep 2010
Larry David takes on the Woody Allen role in this film that sees Allen returning to the NYC landscape that made him famous.
Though filled with witty dialouge and a great cast, the film has an underlying bitterness to it that keeps the viewer from really embracing it as one of Allen's better works. Also, the relationship between David and the much younger, Evan Rachel Wood, is creepy at best and ironically similar to Woody's own personal relationship.
Woody has happily returned to Europe for his latest film, "You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger", which is a far better film. As for Larry David, it is hard to see him in anything but "Curb Your Enthusiasm" at this point and he should stick to the small screen.
