Review of Whatever Works (2009) by Salvador A — 12 Mar 2011
I thought the combo of Woody Allen and Larry David would be perfection. I was wrong. Film has a few humorous moments, but for the most part it's inhabited by really unappealing characters with stilted dialogue and rife with Allen's now cloying conceits.
The rapid fire monologues directed to the audience are better sold by Woody...and ran their course by the 80's. Jazz score is cliched (in a film that mocks cliches) and inappropriate. Go watch Curb instead.
