Review of Whatever Works (2009) by Neilio O — 11 Feb 2013
Although it boasts an amiable nostalgic charm, this definitely feels like a weaker draft of Allen's past work. Some very interesting and jovial moments throughout, but Allen's signposting script lacks any sort of subtlety.
This definitely shows in the performances, whose primarily enjoyable lightness sails away into blunt caricature.
