Review of What Would Jesus Buy? (2007) by Angie F — 12 Jan 2009
The premise of this movie - how the commercialization of Christmas is affecting Amercia - is wonderful. However, the documentary fails to live up to its potential. I was really excited with the first 5-10 minutes that presented some interesting statistics.
However after that the film focused so much on "Reverend" Billy's performance group that the message of the film is lost. This film had real potential to discuss the affects of commercialization and the "need for stuff" in our society, but fails miserably.
My suggestion is to read "Affluenza" for a more insightful perspective on this topic.
