The reason to see this stems purely from my curiosity to see how they remake this in China and I was predictably disappointed. A pointless remake setting it in Shanghai that makes less and less sense in plot and character development as it goes on.
Apparently it IS possible to make it even more predictable and charmless than the Hollywood original, who could have 'thunk' that? I persist to the end just to see how bad it can get and it is as much a stinker as expected.
The lack of chemistry between the two leads (who are pretty decent actors given the right material) and the annoying contrivances coupled with the lack of logic and a believable framework for which to hang the loosest of story on, just serve to infuriate more and proves that this is an exercise devoid of any merit or fun.
I mean the original isnt that great to start off with... so who's bright idea is it to do this?
