Review of What Women Want (2000) by Shelbie B — 02 Mar 2010
Nancy Myers errects a suave and charming portrait of New York, harkening back to the era of Frank Sinatra. If it were not for this and Gibson's dashing charisma (and knack for comedic timing), the film would be embarassingly bland.
Helen Hunt is fun to watch as well, as are the always reliable supporting talents of Marissa Tomei. It's smartly directed, although the climax and resolution sort of bend over one another for a flat and strangely vague finish.
