Review of What We Do in the Shadows (2014) by Private U — 12 Sep 2015
Like "Only Lovers Left Alive", but in a totally different mood - the comedy - this movie is a new look at the mythology of the vampires . The idea of monsters as flatmate was already well pictured in the british tv series "Being Human", but the similarites end here: indeed, "What we do in the shadows" put together the typical clichèes of vampires and set them on a flat with all the classic issues of a cohabitation, those for daily management of an apartment - washing the dishing, cleaning the house, take the garbage outside - but also the fights which come from the union of people that actually comes from different historical ages, not to mention all the problems related to a vampire status in the contemporary age.
I found it lovely directed and acted, a very nice story, for vampire lovers and not.
