Review of What We Do in the Shadows (2014) by Peter F — 30 Nov 2017
Only the Flight of the Conchords creators could deliver a vampire-comedy that's as fresh and funny as this one. What We Do in the Shadows uses the tried-and-true mockumentary style to great effect, making the most of the film's small budget.
Of even more merit is the film's acknowledgment of vampire lore and history, which gives the humor a more subversive edge. Perhaps not as re-watchable as their beloved HBO series, but Clement and Waititi show that they still have plenty of absurdly great ideas in their head here.
