Review of What We Did on Our Holiday (2014) by Kritt N — 31 Jan 2015
Review:
I didnt really enjoy this movie because the script, really wasn't that funny. On top of that, the storyline was completely ridiculous and so unrealistic. The constant bickering between the adults became annoying after a while and the whole kids burning the body episode was totally stupid. The fact that there granddad could have still been alive was quite disturbing, even though the kids were following there granddads wishes. The other problem that I found with the storyline was that no one was willing to look for the body, even though the kids said that they had set it alight. The acting also seemed a bit over exaggerated and the kids, who were at such a young age, shouldn't have taken on such a big responsibility without an adult present. I know that it shouldn't be taken so seriously but the sketchy script became tedious after a while. In all, I won't be watching it again in a hurry. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
I'm not a big fan of English comedies but I thought I would give this a chance because I usually like Billy Connolly's work. In this movie I didn't really find him that funny but that is mostly due to the writers who really didn't do a good job. I thought that the movie might take a turn for the better once the investigating officer got involved in the whole plot but that just led to a dead end. Anyway, I think that you can tell that I didn't enjoy this film but if your into the English sense of humour, then this might be your cup of tea.
I recommend this movie to people who are into their English comedies about a dysfunctional family who go to the Highlands for a birthday party which leads to a strange chain of events. 2/10.
