Review of What Richard Did (2012) by Neil P — 10 Feb 2013
I'm glad there's a film that shows the potential consequences some actions have as far too often similar events are shown to have no consequences in the majority of general entertainment. The film is fairly understated though and many will be frustrated at the lack of resolution by the end of it. I was surprised at the lack of interest the local population had in discovering what Richard did. Then again this is maybe an accurate portrayal of the rich in Dublin. It is interesting to see the conflict between Richard's guilt and inability to own up.
The main actors are decent and Lars Mikkelsen is good as the dad despite sticking out like a sore thumb. I've never been to Dublin but this film has me thinking it would be a good idea to bring a wind-proof jacket. Definitely a film that could benefit from subtitles - especially if English isn't your first language.
