In my opinion, this is a successful attempt to pay homage to the master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock, but I disagree with Roger Ebert in rating the movie poorly for incorporating the supernatural. Sure, he's right in saying that he never would have done it, but Zemeckis puts a few of his own touches on it, it's definitely a film that makes you jump for than really terrifies you.

Kind of like a supernatural thriller. Even though the acting is really not that special, I thought this was actually a pretty creepy film. Anyone familiar with Hitchcock will really be able to notice the little tribute sequences, such as Claire(Phiefer) spying on her neighbor and seeing something that only those who have seen Rear Window can guess.

It's easy to see the connections to Psycho as well, where it plays on your mind rather than mortifying you, and it works on a lot of levels. There are a few things keeping me from giving it 4, the acting is mediocre at best, the cast is good and all and it is not the worst but it just did not stand out.

It's really not that great, but it's a compelling thriller with a lot of jumps here and there, it's not one that will be crammed into your memory band or change your life, but it's good while it lasts, maybe only a one time thing though.
