Review of What Lies Beneath (2000) by Alexander Z — 20 Dec 2010
Pfeiffer overacts, Ford sleepwalks through the script, and the MacGuffin is ponderous. Just a bad Hitchcock tribute. What Lies Beneath reminds me more of The Frighteners in its bright style, but it's played straight with no sense of irony or humor.
Zemeckis should have taken a page from Stir of Echoes.
