Review of What Just Happened (2008) by Cate P — 27 May 2009

Good ensemble cast with De Niro in the lead. Heâ??s really an excellent comic actor - unfortunately though, a few of his recent choices of film have been quite lame (Meet the Parents / Fockers; Analyze This & Thatâ?¦ bleh). So it was good to see him in this clever comedy about power in the film industry, well supported by Stanley Tucci, John Turturro, Robin Wright Penn and Catherine Keener as the Scary Bitch Whose Smiles Mean She Is Very Angry and Someone is Going To Cop Big Shit.

â??What Just Happenedâ?? seamlessly blends the real with the realistic and the entirely fictional; and is a very credible satire on the commercialisation of art, the prostitution of artists and the political warfare over the shallow and arbitrary.
