Review of What Have They Done to Your Daughters? (1974) by Paul M — 05 Jan 2010
A very good film. Unlike giallos as Bava and Argento did them, this takes a more realistic, Friedkin-esque approach. And unlike the grand guignol of Tenebre or Twitch of the Death Nerve, this is more of a police procedural with the occasional gory shock moment (the most impressive one involving a hand reaching for a light-switch...).
It's clear from this film that Dallamano was a talented director, and it's a shame his life was cut short. I look forward to seeing What Have You Done to Solange?, but I'm a little wary of Enigma Rosso. That was supposed to be the third in this director's schoolgirls trilogy, but it had to be directed by some other guy when Mr. Dallamano died in a car accident. What a shame.
