Review of What Happens in Vegas (2008) by Kyle B — 03 Jan 2012
What happens in Vegas starts in the hole right off the bat but cleverly develops into something just a little bit more. Yes this is your typical romantic comedy, but it is the way the film goes about executed the cute and quirky jokes that it starts to stand slightly above the rest.
Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz star as two single people who venture to Vegas after both encounter major upsets in their life. They get drunk and get married, and after one lucky slot machine pull, find themselves fighting over $3 million dollars.
The two are forced to work out their marriage, and doing so we find out a little more about the two newly weds as they actually start to fall for each other. The jokes are fresh but it is the actions of the characters that prove the most successful, we don't see the usual guy hates girl, girl hates guy, both start to fall, one messes up, one fixes it, both live happy every after, instead we get a guy who doesn't make the usual mistakes and find the girl isn't actually all that bitchy.
All in all a decent date movie that works just fine.
