I wanted to like this film. I really did. I thought the concept of an overpopulated earth with the GM foods and the 'one child only' law all sounded so realistic, so plausible, that this would be an exciting yet thought provoking film.

It was not. At least not the way it was intended to be.

It's not the direction or the budget, and it's definitely not the casting. I think Noomi Rapace does an excellent job, Glenn Close is, well, Glenn Close and the supporting cast is great. It's just that this film has more holes in it than my lucky boxers.

Seriously, at least once every scene I threw my hands up in the air in exasperation. Seven identical sisters, all raised in the same flat and all educated the same way and they turn out as the cast of a teen slasher flick? A geek, a goody goody, a jock, a slut, a stoner, need I go on? The very lives of these woman are dependant on them all pretending to be the same person, and they all have different haircuts? One drinks all the time, one eats anything, one works out a lot, after thirty years how are they all the same weight and size? It's blatantly ridiculous.

All that aside, once you get past the first twenty minutes or so the film devolves into a very predictable, run of the mill thriller to the point where I could predict characters lines before I said them. And the two big plot twists? Figured them out twenty five minutes in.

This film gets two stars mostly for Rapace's performance, she literally does the work of seven people. Aside from that? Pass. Go watch Enemy of the State, its better in every way.
