Review of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) by Chris V — 24 Feb 2008
You know how there are certain films that you become overly-familiar with? This is one I fear. While there is still the vacarious thrill of seeing Bette Davis give a performance that ironically was not matched until Faye Dunaway's Joan Crawford in MOMMIE DEAREST and also to marvel at the inner strength of Crawford's Blanche sadly the typical sledgehammer direction of Robert Aldrich soon begins to tire after several viewings.
There is however the scene-stealing turn by Victor Bueno as the ever-so sleazy Edwin to make it worthwhile.
