Review of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) by Edmarc H — 06 Oct 2008
Many of the characters are so inept, it's aggravating. The two leads play really well off each other and their real life star personas, especially Bette Davis, whose meaty portrayal of the wonderfully creepy and demented Baby Jane easily eclipses that of Joan Crawford's Blanche. Bette's title character definitely goes down as one of the worst movie villains of all time in my book. The camp also works to the film's advantage most of the time.
Maybe this film just hits really close to home. Seeing as how at times, I've got a roommate who embodies all that I find annoying about the two leads. I don't know. He just does.
