Review of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) by Fernando Rafael Q — 21 Sep 2009
An absolute belter. A complete tour de force from Bette Davis and a quieter but no less convincing turn from Joan Crawford. Forget what you've read about these two not getting along in real life, the chemistry here is palpaple and utterly convincing.
Hitchcockian in tone, this will grab hold of you and not let go. A story of psycological and physical abuse by one person upon another the images and ideas here were way ahead of their time. Scary and uncomprimising the final revalation will leave you thiunking .
. 'what if', just watch this with the lights on.
