Review of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) by Cora D — 29 Oct 2010

Huge fun, watching this again on TCM--the perfect Halloween flick. Aldrich basically sets up a tawdry set--the home of two aging former stars---cast two Hollywood legends, and had them go at it. The result is not unsimilar to Jane Eyre--only, instead of the hero taking care of a monster, the monster takes care of the heroine, which when you think about it results in a much more suspenseful movie.

Not always plausible (why doesn't she call out the window?), but always compelling, it's grand guignol fun.
