Review of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) by Rory P — 15 Mar 2011
While the presence of a twisted Davis and a suffering Crawford does pique ones interest in the film, once you actually sit down to watch it you may find it an underwelming experience. Long and full of exposition rather then genuine tension/psychodrama, the 'shocking' bits, of birds and rats and a wailing Davis, are not that harrowing by modern standards.
Davis's twisted demeanor does add a splash of colour to proceedings, but the drawn out, melodramatic way the story is told leaves alot to be desired.
