Review of What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice? (1969) by Anthony L — 14 Aug 2009
Robert Aldrich produced this darkly comic suspenser in the vein of his own classics 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?' and 'Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte'. The plot and production values are a step below - but the spirited performances by Geraldine Page and Ruth Gordon, as well as the unusual score by Gerald Fried, make it work.
Melodramatic and dated, but a lot of fun for those reasons - entertaining for fans of aging actresses movies, but not one of the best.
