Review of What Dreams May Come (1998) by Matt C — 04 May 2010

First off, this is a pretty good film. It's unique, really does look spectacular, and has an emotional pull. I'll admit, I didn't pay my full attention to this since I watched it during a class, but there are some notable flaws in this film.

These include: a messy storyline, some major editing miscues, some mozzarella-sprinkled cheesiness at times, and Robin Williams shouldn't have been cast for the main role. Sure he's pulled off some great half-serious performances like in Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society, but this one felt more on par with Patch Adams, a forced seriousness that just doesn't work.

All-in-all, it's worth a watch.
