Review of What Dreams May Come (1998) by Pierluigi F — 17 Aug 2014
'What Dreams May Come' won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects. That aspect of the film is true excellence. You see the darkness and disparity of hell, a heaven that is literally a painting from the mind, etc.
Heaven in particular breathes beauty and surrealism. Unfortunately, 'What Dreams May Come' suffers from its somewhat bloated story and the fact that it does not move you emotionally like other films with its tone.
The late Robin Williams is undeniably good in his role, but it isn't quite enough to make up for the lukewarm plot.
