Review of What Dreams May Come (1998) by Olli H — 07 Sep 2010
It's visually beautiful. But really, aside from that, it's nothing more than average. It begins with an over-the-top sob story where they kill off an entire family of four. The first three in car accidents, and the wife/mom kills herself.
I think they did a pretty good job of introducing the world of the afterlife. But it couldn't have been more cliché. It's absolutely everything you could ever want... How convenient. It's a nice thought, but not much more. And then they took too long after creating the world for us before introducing the actual story.
Despite its flaws and its mediocrity, I did care about the characters and was very interested to see it to the end and hope for the characters.
