Review of What Dreams May Come (1998) by David S — 13 Jun 2014
What Dreams May Come is a beautifully sad film about love and the great loss of intimate life. Taking pieces from Greek mythology, this film delves into the power of love and its ability to go beyond the confines and rules imposed.
It is a beautifully drawn, crafted, acted and directed film, however, it does seem to sometimes be too flamboyant, too fantastical, and too blunt. There is no subtlety in this film, and no toying around.
It is definitely a tear-jerker, and it can re-light suppressed memories/feelings. But as a film, it believes itself to be far better than it is.
