Review of Whale Rider (2003) by Tena R — 20 Mar 2012

At first I thought to myself that the Whale Rider was not going to be a good movie and I was not going to be interested in it but that change. I believe in the fact that the family came together when Pai mother dies and the child was born.

Could I really forgive my father after he left me when I was born? I guess I could have because I really did not know him and I would like to get to know him and find out the real reason he left. Thier beliefs in family values are strong.

I admire that because, I have strong family beliefs and the faith of a strong family. The grandfather shows threw a rope about his ancestor, being join together and very strong all the way back to the belief in a whale.

The grandfather was real protective of Pai, but I did not understand why. But as the movie went on I found out that he was disappointed because the grandchild was a girl and he really wanted a boy. Did not like the fact when a vistor enter into the room of your home you greet them with a kiss.

Porourangi explains to Pai that Koro needs a prophet "someone that leads people out of the darkness." But to me a prophet might can help guide you, but it is your faith and your belief that will bring you threw.

You can not decide what your child or children is going to be. Whether it is a girl or boy whatever God choose them to be you have to accept that. Everyone is their own person regardless of gender. Why would you not teach girls how to protect themselves? Because it is sacred religion.

But I feel girls as well as boys have to learn how to with evil. One thing I have learn is that you do not play with sacred grounds. Little did Koro know that Pai was going to be the one. They go threw strange test to determin who Koro wants them to be.

When God allows us to be who we want to be in life. Koro was chanting calling upon the ancient ones but they was not listening. Where as we pray to God and we know he hears us. Again I really did not feel like this was going to be an interesting movie, but it turn out to be agreat movie.

Showing the strength and faith that one have. How one person that have so much love and respect for someone they care about was willing to die for them. Because Koro thought that girls could not be a warrior, Pai shows different and I thing highly of Pai courage to be who ever God she wants.
