Review of Whale Rider (2003) by Soumya R — 03 May 2008
I was crying in the Divinity School library by the end of this (yeah, kinda embarassing)...and I don't cry much...not since Pan's Labyrinth; I see some parallels between the two movies, with feisty young heroines trying to survive in their changing worlds - this is considerably less dark, and has a happy ending (which brought it down half a star), but crafted beautifully.
