Review of Whale Rider (2003) by Jacky W — 09 Jun 2009

This one was sitting around at home and I decided to give it a go. to my surprise it was incredibly well done. A wonderful story that not only warms the heart but jerks your tears as well. the only thing that might bug you is that the film upheaves an entire culture.

But in my personal oppinon this is a movie that calls for a cultural change that needs to be recognized around the world...and that is the decline of the patriarchal dominated society. If you are interested in that at all this would be the film for you.

Also Keisha Castle-Hughs is phenominal and definetly deserved her oscar nomination. Just Castle-Hughs performance should be enough for you to give this one a look-see.
