Review of Wet Hot American Summer (2001) by Ben F — 07 Aug 2008
Rarely will you find a single comedy that features this much talent in one film. Too bad an incredibly promising first half hour loses almost all focus down the stretch. What starts as an instant classic intent on telling a unique story takes a sad left turn into the realm of ultra-broad and plain dumb.
Still, plenty of funny stuff throughout to partially live up to its cult status. MVPs: Paul Rudd, David Hyde Pierce (early on), Chris Marino, Elizabeth Banks.
