After toying around with several funny TV shows and programs (most notably The State), the comedy troupe of Michael Showalter, David Wain, Michael Ian Black, and many others come together to put forth a hilariously original piece of comedy gold in Wet Hot American Summer.

The story (if you could call it that!) takes place at Camp Firewood in 1981 where an ensemble of camp counselors and campers gather together to engage in several hilarious comedic vignettes. Aside from the Stella/The State/Reno 911 familiar faces, some other great then-up and comers as well as comedians show up in the film like David Hyde Pierce, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, and Christopher Meloni (from TV's Law and Order in a hilarious role as the camp cook).

There's plenty of off-the-wall and hilarious moments throughout this movie; it's a damn shame I'm only now seeing it. Those of you who enjoy stuff like American Pie's or Jim Carrey movies need not bother with this film.

Most of the humor will be way over your neaderthalic head.
