Review of Wet Hot American Summer (2001) by Adam F — 16 Jul 2010
I hear the phrase cult classic with this film, but I disagree, sure not a lot of people have seen it, but this is a comedy pure and simple. There is nothing "campy" about this movie other than the fact that it takes place on the last day at a summer camp in the 80's.
Other than that it is a straight comedy. I won't go into to much detail about the movie because chances are YOU havent seen it. All I can say is that it's one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.
It makes fun of the 80's camp movies very well but you don't even realize that they are doing that. This movie could very well have been made in the 80's. This movie also launched a lot of careers of hollywood actors including, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler and Elizabeth Banks just to name a few.
Also Christopher Meloni steals every scene he is in. If you can find someone with this movie borrow it or order it online it's worth having.
