Review of Wet Hot American Summer (2001) by Eric A — 03 Aug 2010
Most parodies embarrass themselves where they aim to mock, but "Wet Hot American Summer" is an exception. It's an absurd, lovingly-crafted homage to the likes of "Meatballs" that ends up much better than the films it's poking fun at.
The hilarious cast (just as fascinating for the actors didn't become famous as those who did) holds the episodic comedy together - each plotline has enough ringers to keep the entire film feeling snappy and fresh.
Condensing the entire story into a single day - one of many borrowed and riffed-upon tropes in "WHAS" - doesn't hurt either. LOL Bradley Cooper.
