Review of Westworld (1973) by Carl W — 20 Apr 2008
I saw this when I was a teenager, and again recently. Aside from the inconsistencies, which I'm sure are introduced deliberately into every SciFi flick so that fans have something to talk about, it's a respectable effort, ahead of its time in many respects.
Yul Brynner makes a splendid psychopathic robot cowboy. Many a subsequent SciFi flick owes a lot to Michael Crighton and this film, what with synthetic pleasure-worlds and androids run amok, machine "virus", etc.
