Review of Westworld (1973) by Peter B — 15 May 2010
The idea is great and has influenced so many things I saw growing up - eg, simpsons skits aplenty and red dwarfs meltdown episode - but watchin it finally was a mixed bag. It doesnt know what to be for a lot of the time - drama, thriller, comedy?- so its hard to get into the films vibe coz there isnt one really.
Until we get to the final 20 odd minutes which are really well done, tense and yul brenner adds real creepy tone. Flawed then but with good stuff and nice ideas inside of it too.
