Review of West Side Story (1961) by Damien K — 09 Jul 2009
I love music and love to watch people dance, but I tend to be really put off by musicals. My favorite part was when they were in the dance hall where the music and dancing was impressive and actually made sense.
I like Shakespeare a lot, but I am not a fan "Romeo and Juliet", therefore I have very little appreciation for stories based on that play. I can admire interracial love struggles but still, in this movie I didn't like it all, and was kind of offended by Natalie Wood playing the lead role as a Puerto Rican.
Okay, so the song about the cop and being poor was kind of amusing. Kind of. It's weird how many of my punk friends like this movie...
