10/10-- Masterful storytelling. The music is overpowering, as well as its groundbreaking choreography. A classic. May even be in the catagorey of an Art-House film. The film plays in the lines of Romeo & Juliet and is thrown into to the Italian/Latino gang warfare of The late 50's in NYC.
"West Side Story" won ten academy awards includng Best Picture when it was released in 1961. It is still just as breathtaking, powerful and heartbraking as it was when realsed almost 50 years ago.
