Review of West of Memphis (2012) by Pablo E — 19 Apr 2014
A fascinating insight into the West Memphis Three. 3 teenagers wrongfully convicted of the murder of three 8 year old boys in Arkansas.
It follows the story from the crime itself, through to the trial, the subsequent investigation into the actual perpetrator and the fight for the release of the WM3.
It's a long slog, but there is a great deal to fit in here. Previously this case has been documented by the 3 Paradise Lost films, so maybe 2 1/2 hours is quite the edit.
It is a tale of gross injustice and the fight for the truth. The conclusion still leaves threads dangling though and leaves you feeling for the families of the victims and if they will ever get their justice. Powerful stuff.
