Review of We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993) by Raaj C — 23 Sep 2013
Have you EVER wanted to see a horribly written, prehistoric (no pun intended) version of Madagascar? Well, if you did want to see this...what is wrong with you? This movie sucks! This stupid flick attempted to make John Goodman a likable voice actor...when he clearly has done better job as Sully in the Monster's Inc films. This movie is about a group of dinosaurs, including a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Triceratops, a Hadrosaur, and Pterodactyl get sent to modern times. Now, you make be thinking that, what kind of sick person would bring dangerous prehistoric animals to modern times. Well, you don't really have to worry because the brains behind this job is a very clean-minded scientist who wants to see world piece, gives each dino a pill that makes them smarter and friendlier too-you know, for the kids! Now, they live in modern times and they interact with modern time scenarios like random parades and EXTREMELY dark carnivals.
The story is complete non sense and dialogue just goes places. Most of dialogue doesn't seem to be child friendly at certain scenes. Also, when the movie wants to go dark....it REALLY gets dark.
The only thing I can say that is probably worth watching is the animation. It IS pretty decent, but the comedy, story, and characters doesn't really seem to mash up. Sure, the concept could have been neat, but the way it was executed was really poor. This isn't one of those "OMG this movie sucks so bad, I want to kill myself" movies. Kids might enjoy it, but parents REALLY need to be around with their kids in order to have their child live a normal life span.
So, if you want, go ahead and check it out....if you are stupid. Go see a REAL family film like Toy Story or the Monster's Inc films.
