Review of We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993) by Kaitlyn V — 06 Feb 2010

We're back a quirky sort of slapstic comedy that whilist I would rate badly is another one of those "Nostalgia" movies for me. Whilist I'll admit its sort of trippy in the sense that someone was porbably high when they wrote the script its still a good movie not certainly the worse I've seen anyway.

The animation is cool it's not great but it's got a style to it that really works for the film, kinda sketchy bright and colorful perfect for this film. If you managed to throw outer space into their (which they sort of do considering there's a spaceship and some aleins) you'd have every kids heaven.

The plot is ok...well ok the plot is downright ridiculous some dinosaurs eat brain food and go to the future because some guy wants to grant kids wishes...erm yeah...stop the Kennedy Assasination...9/11...not even the Holocaust? Gotta make sure some bratty kids see dinosaurs? But I disgress...The plot is exactly something a kid would dream up.

The voice acting is superb it very emotional and has some very well done voices...I'm not sure if any of these guys are big-name voice actors but good notheless. The music is also cool its nice and catchy and great fun.

O.K. now there is a reason I gave this a 80% rather than 70% or 60% is the ending...which I won't spoil but the bad guy does a speech which is just...effing amazing I'll admit it I FREAKIN LOVE the speech at the end the bad guy does I think its probably the greatest 30 seconds in kid cinema history! I don't know why but the ending scene alone made me give this movie big props.

Now there are some issues one example I can give are the extremem close-up whilist these arn't to frequent everyone in a while we'll zoom in on a characters eye and these will usually last like 30 seconds and I admit it's just akward as all hell, plus the kids nor scientists as far as I recall, question how the hell dinosaurs get there, they sort of wave around that by saying the people that they do spend a long time with are from the future and people do occasionaly freak out from them so it's excusable.

This movie is for kids nothing more! Need your kids to shut up for 70 minutes this'll do it! Wanna remeber the days when girls were cootie filled nothings, and all you could think about was outer space and sugar filled cereals? This is for you. If you want to unleash the inner kid in you put on your pjs and watch this at 8 on a Saturday morning! If you want to entertain your kid bigtime? Go with this! My recomendation? Rent it! Eight and a half screws out of ten.
